These editing methods will only help if you dictated something incorrectly or if DMO misrecognized a word or phrase. It will not help if you are correcting a word or phrase that Dragon doesn’t yet know. Continue reading to learn how to add custom vocabulary to help with your accuracy. Custom vocabulary NOTE : IE10 or higher is needed for full Train Words functionality DMO will have no trouble recognizing most of your usual word choices, including diagnoses, procedural terminology, anatomy/physiology terms, and common names and dosage abbreviations. Sometimes, it will be necessary to teach DMO new words. The most common examples of words you might need to add to DMO’s default vocabulary are proper nouns like surnames and location names, and new medicines. Add a custom vocabulary word or phrase • Dictate the following: “ The patient will follow up with Dr. Kendazzi in 2 weeks. ” o Observe that because DMO did not know the name Kendazzi, it will be misrecognized and misspelled. We need to correct the spelling and add it to the vocabulary. • Say " Add Word " • Type the new word or phrase into the blank. For this exercise, enter Dr. Kendazzi .

o Be sure to use right spelling, formatting, and/or capitalization as DMO will type out exactly what you enter here. • Click the microphone button and speak the word to train it. The mic icon will turn green to indicate DMO is listening. • Click confirm once the word has been trained. o If the recording is not successful on the first try, you can always edit the word later. • Click Close. • Return to your dictation.

o When you dictate the new word or phrase again, it will show up correctly. The Use Default Pronunciation option can be used to add a word quickly without recording your pronunciation. This feature is useful if the word is pronounced the same way it is spelled. The Enter the word as you would pronounce it option can can be used for nicknames or alternative pronunciation. This feature is useful if you want Dragon to spell out a full word or phrase when you dictate a nickname. For example: “ Dragon Regional Medical Center ” can show when you dictate “DRMC”.
